The crazy time of year is fast approaching and it’s the perfect time to check your breaks and review your event and traffic management plans (TMP).

 

Why does my brewery need a Traffic Management Plan?

A traffic management plan will assist you to keep your guests and employees safe while enjoying themselves during this busy time at your brewery.

Implementing simple solutions and documenting a traffic management plan can give you peace of mind that while you’re providing great live experiences for your customers, they are being guided around your site in the safest possible way.

In basic terms you are managing, organising, arranging and guiding the control of both stationary and moving traffic, including pedestrians and all types of vehicles.

 

What could be identified as a Traffic Hazard?

A traffic hazard could include :

  • Any type of vehicle reversing and maneuvering, delivering or picking up goods.
  • Arrivals and departures around parking areas and loading and unloading on or around vehicles.
  • Hitching or unhitching trailers, securing loads and getting in and out of vehicles.

 A few things to note when it comes to traffic hazards when pedestrians are involved, are:

  • Ensuring there are physical barriers separating individuals form moving vehicles:;
  • Appropriate access, this including disability, bump in and out access;
  • Marking/alerting to cracked footpaths, uneven ground, blind corners or poor lighting.

Bump in and bump out plans are another consideration many will be dealing with in high volumes at this time of year. This is another crucial component of traffic management and event management along with obtaining the required permits and ensuring you are keeping compliant with all current regulations.
